Background: Hypoparathyroidism, deafness and renal dysplasia (HDR) syndrome is a rare condition inherited as an autosomal dominant trait. The responsible genetic defect is in the region 10p. Background: Alström Syndrome (ALMS), occurred due to mutations in ALMS1 gene, is a rare otosomal ressesive disorder. Seven hundred cases have been reported so far. Main clinical findings are rod con dystrofy, neurosensorial deafness, obesity and type 2 diabetes.
